Banarasi Undefined

Imagine walking into a ceremony wearing a gleaming Banarasi saree which is charming enough to drag everyone’s attention. As we all know, Saree is an attire which is incomparable. Only a woman knows the value of this six yards of sheer elegance. Beauty is never defined by your skin color, attractive body or face, it’s all about how you present yourself, how unique you stand in the crowd.

Three years ago, I attended a ceremony, where this young beautiful lady named Sonali Dasgupta, in her Organza (Kora) with jari and silk Banarsi, took the limelight of the ambience. Her beautiful Banarasi saree with gold thread hand woven work all over was symbolizing the significance of authentic Banarasi artwork.

For those who doesn’t knows much about Banarasi Sarees, let me portray this to you- Banarasi is the finest variant of silk which had its genesis in the city of Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, India. It’s an unmatched example of excellent artwork that glorifies the art of weaving and designing. Mughals brought this fine craftsmanship in India. Through this artwork Mughal depicts their rich culture and exemplary enthusiasm of this artisanship.

It takes two weeks to six months depending upon the intricateness of the design for completing one Banarasi saree. Also, making of one saree requires a powerloom and atleast three craftsman. This saree is famous for using the gold and silver brocade or the zari for it’s designing. It is still considered as the most demanding traditional saree in India, because of it’s undefined artisanship.
